programme East Midlands Today!
Saturday 2nd December 2006:
Harpz - The Derbyshire Harp Ensemble presents an Evening
of Advent Carols at St Michael's Church Kirk Langley Derbyshire
in aid of Church funds and the Leeke Memorial Hall.
The first half of the programme with contain popular classics
and works studied through the year and the second half following
an interval of Mince Pies and Tea will be advent carols and
seasonal favourites and readings.
Friday 1st December 2006: HARPZ

Saturday 11th November 2006: Gwyl Cerdd
Dant Cymru - Cerdd Dant Festival Wales - The Stiwt, Rhosllanerchrugog,
Wrexham. Harps will be available for sale, rental and demonstration.
Helen-Elizabeth's students will also be competing.

Langley Village Hall - Master Class with the world famous
virtuoso harpist David Watkins. All grades
welcome to come along and study exam or recital pieces with
David Watkins.
David
Watkins needs little introduction, being well known for a
varied career, his work includes a position with the Royal
Opera House Covent Garden and that of principal harpist with
the London Philharmonic Orchestra. He was professor of Harp
at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and also at the
Royal Northern College of Music. He is the author of The
Complete Method for Harp as well as composer of Petite
Suite and
many, many more pieces for harp. David has also had a very
successful recording career with RCA and EMI. His lecture
recitals are celebrated in many countries.

Specialist Leadership Course in Harp Teaching by Helen
Naylor-Williams
A Unique Celtic Harp Course.
This course was both
inspiring and technical. Professionally, enthusiastically
delivered and received at the highest level the course was
attended by music specialists with a sense of humour and
a yearning towards perfection. Highly intensive in content,
the learning curve that they experienced and achieved was
evident at the end of the course.
The history of the harp
and harp playing in Wales was covered and through intensive
tuition they were taught how to teach beginners at the harp
through to grade 1, through principles and techniques of
harp playing with the aim of promoting harp playing and harp
ensembles in Pembrokeshire's schools - adding to the ethos
and ambience of the schools, giving pupils a greater learning
opportunity to experience their past and present culture.

School of Music - Coleraine, Northern Ireland.
Beginners Introduction to Harp Ensemble - lead by Helen Naylor-Williams
A wonderful evening was held at the newly established Causeway
School of Music in Coleraine, new students to the harp -
some of whom has only been playing the harp for a matter
of weeks and we able to come together and learn a variety
of music to play to Mums and Dads at the end of the evening!
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Away in a Manger and Silent
Night were among the numbers learnt. Hazel Drummond the harp
teacher over their and students were thrilled with the chance
to play together with friends.

CS: 134 BEGINNERS INTRODUCTION TO FOLK HARP: Suitable for
complete beginners to the harp and music. Students will be
taught to read music and play the folk harp. This should
be a fun course with individual playing and group playing.
Instruments and music will be provided. No previous knowledge
assumed.

COURSE 135 PEDAL HARP IMPROVERS CLASS:
This course is aimed at harpists of grade 3 and above. This
should be a fun course with individual and group playing.
Instruments and music will be provided. Students are invited
to bring their own pieces to study with David. Technique
and Repertoire will be looked at during the week along with
performance skills. Tutor David Watkins Professor of Harp

An Grianan, Termonfeckin, Co. Louth, Ireland.
The annual Festival for Irish Harp now ranks among the top
international harp festivals. It attracts Students from all
over the world while maintaining its distinctive Irish identity.
Harpers of all standards and styles who want a thoroughly
enjoyable time while developing their skills and repertoire
should come along. Among the areas covered will be:- Singing
to harp Accompaniment, traditional ornamentation and dance
music, Session Playing, Ensemble Playing, Music of the Harpers
and much more.
Clive Morley Harps represented by myself will be attending
all week with harps for sale and rental.
